Research focus is on machine learning for perceptual and diagnostic tasks. Has previously collaborated with Eastman Kodak Company researchers on image and video inpainting (2008) and uncalibrated multi-view video (2007), with George Eastman House researchers on annotation and simulated restoration of digitally-scanned daguerreotypes (2008-2009), and as a member of the Audio Processing Group of the Air Force Research Laboratory in Rome, NY (2010-2011). Additional research work has been aimed at studying the assessment and improvement of digital restoration techniques based upon a computational model of human attention. Supervised student researchers in image inpainting (Tang, 2009), video cut detection (Snyder, 2009), and graph cuts for image segmentation (Proscia, 2008).
